Writing Fellows – For Students

What are the benefits of becoming a Writing Fellow?

  • The Writing Fellows Program is similar to the Peer Mentor Program in many ways; the primary difference is that, instead of helping students acclimate to college expectations, they are helping them acclimate to disciplinary writing expectations.
  • For education majors/minors, Writing Fellows benefit greatly from gaining experience coaching other students.
  • A position as a Writing Fellow looks great on resumes and in cover letters! Employers and graduate schools love to see that students have knowledge in a subject area.
  • In helping others with their discipline-specific writing, Writing Fellows gain an even more thorough knowledge of subject matter.
  • In attending periodic practicum meetings, Writing Fellows learn more about the writing process.
