Graduate Student FAQs

Who can use tutoring services?

Graduate students are welcome to use in-person or online tutoring services.

What are the technological requirements for online tutoring?

To conduct a live chat session, you will need a dependable internet connection and an up-to-date web browser.

To utilize video chat functionality, you’ll need a high-speed internet connection and a webcam.

You must not be behind a firewall. If you normally access the web from behind a firewall (ex. at a public school computer), you may be blocked from accessing WC Online.

What days/hours are you available?

We offer over 60 tutoring hours a week. For a full listing of our hours, please visit our scheduler.

All of our normal tutoring hours can be reserved as live, online tutoring sessions.

What should I attach to the appointment?

Any and all of your work as a .doc or .docx file! If you’re not at a draft stage, you can also choose not to attach anything. We can help at every stage of the writing process, including pre-search and brainstorming.

If you’re working on a class assignment, please include the original prompt, if at all possible. If you’re working on professional documents (statement of purpose, grant proposal), please include the original job posting, call for papers, etc.

How long will a session take?

Sessions normally last 30 to 60 minutes. The system does not allow back-to-back appointments, so if you’re not sure how long you’ll need, book a 60-minute appointment. You can always end early.
